A little morose humor for your Sunday. Tongue in cheek, at least partially?
A few days ago, I signed Senator Kerry's petition to dump Rumsfeld. A few hours later, my ISP sent an e-mail, informing me:
Virus Detected: W32.Mydoom.L@mm
Message Details:

... Virus Blocker has deleted a message sent to you
because it was generated by a virus. It was not sent by a
person, and there was no valid content in the message.
Apparently, the xorbswvb stands for `X old Rumsfeld b-tch, suffer with virus b-tch.'

Succubae in my computer
A little over a year ago, just as I was clicking the submit button, after signing Clark's `Impeach George W. Bush' petition, I received the `Blue Screen of Death.' My computer died. (By the way, I hear lurking trolls and bottom feeders laughing at me now. I envision them sending conspiratorial `Hook Em' signs to the Daemon(s) of DC. Get Thee Behind Me! - more simply put, F_ck You!)
Sooo, I went through hoops attempting to find someone affordable to ghost the files I'd lost and bring my computer back to life, as it's become an unwelcome necessity to putting a roof over my head. Whew, files ghosted successfully; luckily, the hard disc was not dead. Lies, lies, lies. A little over a week later I click the Microsoft link on an NYT Circuits article regarding a new virus, Norton kicks in - discovered a virus, WTF? Blue Screen of Death.
On the defense now - oops, you've already noticed?
You have to understand, this is the first time I've been sent a virus in the four years I've had this computer. I only use my e-mail account for news subscriptions, a handful of short messages, mostly work related, a few petitions, and to make a few comments on blog sites (less than five). Further, I tell those friends who want to e-mail me something, to please not cc my email address on blanket e-mails that include the names of fifty people I don't even know. I've never used the internet, to handle money matters or make purchases, or provide personal data such as an SS number or account number. I generally don't allow scripting or cookies, unless required, in which case I delete all cookies and Temp files afterwards.
Well you had to be there. Perhaps, you already are?
Screw the Daemon in DC
Where are those worthy petitions people? Bring EM On - I'm still going to sign them.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Diane
P.S. Bush, the only dope worth shooting.
