It probably wasn’t, actually. But that is what it felt like.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

From Mother Jones: an interview with the author of the book Blood. Yes, I’ve bought it.
Archaeologists have uncovered a building in Pompeii that was under construction when Vesuvius blew. Researchers are studying the building techniques used, and the politics of it.

Poll results about the favorite beers in America by generation. Personally, I haven’t had a Samuel Adams beer since I noticed they had trademarked “The best beer in America.” Nope. Good, yes, but the best in the country, no.

It’s May. I got an email on Wednesday that my ballot had been mailed to me. I had already received the voter’s pamphlet. My granddaughter is registered to vote, I’m told. I hope the registration got through the system in time.
This has been a really exciting week — though a book I pre-ordered for my Kindle came out, and was a fun read. I’m in the middle of re-reading it right now.
It’s been intermittently rainy this past week. I had errands to run and didn’t get wet either time; but the car was rained on while I was heading out for groceries.
The news is descending into farce. If the players weren’t so worrisome, I would laugh.
I just came up with my turn at Oath and Honor from the library. I’m still pretty much at the beginning of the book, but between this and something I saw online a week or so ago, I do have to say that Trump and his MAGAs are doing a great job of making Dick Cheney look reasonable.
My ballot arrived on Saturday. There were a few races I hadn’t decided on already, so I actually read some of the candidate listings. A couple ended up with me voting for the one who sounded sane, and three I decided by who had endorsed the candidate — Earl Blumenauer is retiring, so I guess it was no surprise he didn’t endorse any of the five in the running for his seat; but there were a couple of names listed for one that I had already decided it was between him and one other.…
